Born Michael Jonathon McLaughlin on June 13 1971 in Bellshill, Scotland. He moved to London at the age of 5, with his Father and four older sisters. He quickly became involved with music, originally playing the Violin and Singing for his school, where he joined the school orchestra and became lead Violinist and although still a pupil had a good enough vocal range to also sing as part of the teachers choir. He joined St Georges Cathedral choir at the age of 8 as a 'Pueri Cantores' and remained there until the age of 17 achieving the status of Head Chorister which lasted for two years. During this period the Cathedral choir toured around Europe singing in famous landmarks including Notre Dame in Paris, St Marks Basilica, Venice and the Vatican Square, Rome, gaining a private audience with the Pope, and the following year, singing a solo for Pope John Paul II on Easter Sunday in Vatican Square. He left school and took a series of working class jobs including 7 years for Marks and Spencer, Marble Arch. In 1997 attended Southbank University, London where he studied Business Management with Computing for three years. During this time worked a number of jobs including Chauffeur and Club Bouncer to pay for his education. Although, not performing, Jonathon (Mick)could be found backstage in London's Theatreland from his mid teens to early thirties, where his relation (Jonny Herbert) worked behind the scenes of many a famous stage play for Stoll Moss Theatres. As a late bloomer, went back to Music in the mid 2000's after being asked to sing at a friend's wedding, then, in 2012 joined The Royal Choral Society, singing in venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, The Barbican and Kenwood House and in 2013 joined Anna Scher theatre group , Islington, London and has not looked back since.

 Singing Career:

Started singing for St Georges Cathedral Choir in 1978 - 1988, progressed to Head Chorister for the Cathedral,

during this period the choir toured through Europe on several occasions, also singing for the Pope (John Paul II) in several private audiences/masses throughout his reign, including when the Pope visited England in 1982

During my time with the Choir I received the Pueri Cantores qualification, also Grade 5 violin

Whilst with the choir I made regular appearances on national television,

·         Saturday Superstore

·         TV am, (with Frank Bough and Selina Scott)

·         Morning Worship

·         Songs of praise

·         And many more

We as a choir have also performed at Wembley Stadium and Wembley Arena

Separately to the choir, I also appeared in musical theatre:

·         Joseph and his amazing Technicolor dream coat,

·         Oliver Twist,

·         Pirates of Penzance

I left London City Voices and joined a new fresh East London choir; Sing Tower Hamlets

In May 2013 I also joined The Royal Choral society, , where I sing as Second Bass, I currently still sing for both choirs – giving me an extensive song-list of Classical and more Contemporary tunes

Since Oct 2012, I have already performed in:

·         The Royal Albert Hall

·         The Barbican

·         Kenwood House

I am also taking private tuition to learn ‘Bel Canto‘singing with Marika Rauscher, (Award winning soprano) and Justin Bindley (Opera singer/teacher) i have recorded a couple of tracks, with more in the Pipeline – Hopefully looking at a Christmas Album 2014/5

After a lengthy break from acting/music  I recently returned to singing in Oct 2012, I discovered that I still have an extensive range – E flat below Low C to Counter Tenor (with no breaks in-between). I joined London City Voices (a community choir in Eastcheap, EC1, run by Richard Swan) where I sing as Bass,

At the early age of 7, I started to play the Violin for the school orchestra, quickly to become lead violinist for the orchestra, I achieved Grade 5. Although I have not played for some time now, I still own my ‘1880 Handmade, Bench made, from the school of Stradivarius in Hamburg’ violin, unfortunately it is a Second Violin (not worth the millions of a first violin, but still sounds awesome) Although i  I have attempted other instruments: Guitar, Trumpet, Euphonium, the Violin was definitely the preferred instrument of choice.

August 2013, I have started to take Piano /Keyboard lessons – Watch this space
